Leicester Lions have named their magnificent seven to face Rye Hill Rockets in a challenge match next month.

David Howe will captain the team for the trip to the Hillesdon Stadium, Hertfordshire, on Saturday, March 20.

Sporting director Sam Ermolenko has been busy finalising the line-up and there are some interesting inclusions.

Sileby-based Howe, who has six years' experience of Elite League action with Wolverhampton and has ridden in the World Championship Grand Prix , will be the Lions' No.1

Chris Mills comes in at No.2. He was part of the crack Kings Lynn team that dominated domestic speedway in 2006 and scored more than 200 points for Sheffield last season.

Teenager Ludvig Lindgren, the younger brother of Grand Prix rider Freddie, will be aiming to catch the eye and will, this season, be helping Wolverhampton in their Elite League title defence.

Lindgren lines up alongside the Californian Brent Werner, who will be on familiar territory, having raced at Rye House for four seasons. During that time he helped them lift the Premier League title and Trophy competition.

At No.5 is the double British Under-15 Champion Josh Auty. Now 19, he is currently contracted to Coventry but last season raced for Sheffield.

Another rider with Sheffield connections is Paul Cooper, who has battled back from serious injury problems.

Jamie Smith completes the line-up. Smith has also suffered with injuries but is poised to make a comeback with Rye House in the National League this year.
