Spinning a yarn in city goes down a bomb
There's been an outbreak of winter woollies across the city.
Guerilla knitters took to the streets after dark and dressed up bollards and statues across Leicester in seasonal outfits.
Outside the train station, baffled commuters were greeted by the statue of Thomas Cook – proudly wearing a pink scarf and matching knitted handbag.
The Sporting Success statue near the clock tower was another target for what is known as Yarn Bombing.
Closer inspection of the garments revealed tags which said the woolly accessories were the work of knitting groups around the county, spread across the city at 5am yesterday morning as part of the launch of Dave's Leicester Comedy Festival.
The yarn bombers had also adorned the New Walk Centre and Leicester Mercury, giving bollards winter jackets.
