Stick to beans
V H Sheppard (Mailbox, November 13), how ungrateful you are!
You have chosen the occasion of your friend's birthday party to criticise your hosts' choice of restaurant and menu. A restaurant caters for clients who take the trouble to know what is on offer.
As a vegan you know that most restaurants have a limited vegetarian menu, yet you pontificate that the "evening saddens me" – "We actually struggled to find the vegetarian dishes" – "animals sacrificed" – "suffering animals" – "overwhelming disappointment".
You tell us that you went to church next day and that the priest told the congregation to "live simply".
You should have stayed at home and opened a tin of beans!
Ted Humphreys, Countesthorpe.
