Stop pestering me about age!
At a certain age, you start to get insurance mail shots on a regular basis. The two favourites are over-50s life cover and equity release.
Over-50s life cover promises you "peace of mind", knowing that everything will be taken care of when you depart this world.
The last thing you want to be reminded of is that your life will soon come to an end. My mind would be more peaceful without all this stuff coming through my letterbox.
Equity release is another insurance scheme claiming to make your life easier.

They send you material showing senior citizen couples grinning into a camera, both drinking wine on a cruise ship, all made possible because of the insurance company giving you cash against your home.
The couples in question are no doubt hoping their children don't find out they are spending the inheritance like it's going out of fashion!

Last year we saw poor communities worldwide hit by five huge humanitarian emergencies.
These were extraordinary times which called for extraordinary support and that is where the Leicester Oxfam supporters came in.
They made sure Oxfam staff could be there as soon as disaster struck.
Despite the progress Oxfam made last year, there are still far too many people struggling to feed their families. This is why Oxfam's priority for 2013 is to fight for a world where everyone always has enough to eat.
For more information, please visit the Oxfam shop in Market Street, Leicester.

Why has it not occurred to anyone that the plunge in Conservative support during the closing stages of the Eastleigh by-election was due to Cameron's' vocal defence of bankers' bonuses on the eve of poll?

“Yep, turned 50 and bombarded with stuff. I checked out the insurance and it was no cheaper. Not interested in the holidays (at least for another 20 years or so) and erectile dysfunction is not an issue thanks very much.”

“I agree with the letter regarding mail-shots for the over 50's. I was away on holiday to celebrate my 50th but, depressingly, on the door mat when we arrived home was my free trial issue of Saga magazine.”

“"Why has it not occurred to anyone..." - I am sure it has. But Eastleigh was a complex by-election, we had:
1 - rise of UKIP taking the protest vote
2 - Libdems fighting to hold seat, despite Huhne and Lord Rennard (and Clegg)
3 - Tory candidate with foot in mouth syndrome who had to be hidden
4 - Labour trying to prove they could gain foothold in South East
5 - lose of AAA status, threat of triple dip recession
I reckon that most voters have long given up taking much notice of what Cameron says, and would expect him to support bankers in any case: so I doubt his utterances the night before the vote were of any significance.”
