Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it's Superman and he's accompanied by a host of other superheroes.

Children dressed up for a superhero craft day at Beaumont shopping centre, in Beaumont Leys, Leicester.

The centre turned one of its units into a craft house, where young visitors had the chance to create a superhero out of card.

They were provided with a range of materials, from crayons and paints to fabrics and sticky-back plastic to help fire their imagination.

In addition, there was a Batman collage to decorate.

More than 600 children attended the event, which took place over two days.

Parents, grandparents and guardians were encouraged to get into the spirit of the entertainment.

Sarah Duffin, Beaumont shopping centre manager, said: "The children had great fun dressing up as their favourite Superhero for the day.

"There were lots of Supermen, Supergirls and Spider-Men running around."
