Owin Sinclair claimed a sprint double at the Midland Indoor Track & Field Championships in Birmingham.

The 14-year-old Charnwood starlet successfully defended his 60m and 200m under-15 titles at the National Indoor Arena.

Sinclair, silver medallist in both events at last year's National championships, started his double bid with victory in the 60m.

He won his heat in 7.33sec and then produced his best time of the year so far to win the final in 7.22sec.

Rugby & Northampton's Timothy Kerr-Chin was second in 7.50sec with Wolverhampton & Bilston's Cadeem Gordon a fraction behind in third with 7.57sec.

In the 200m, Sinclair demolished the field with his heat win of 22.53sec. This was slower than his season's best but nearly two seconds quicker than his nearest rival.

And when it came to the final, Sinclair was 10-hundreths of a second slower (22.63sec) but that was still comfortable enough to defeat Kerr-Chin, 24.12sec, with Cheltenham's Benjamin Clarke third in 24.55sec.

Charnwood's Romeo Sithole claimed victory in the senior men's high jump (2.05m) with his clubmate, Ethan Walsh, winning the under-17 men's pole vault event with a leap of 3.60m.

Wreake's Matt Kirby took the silver medal in the senior men's 800m with Owls' Jake Boat finishing third.

Leicester Coritanian Armani James was third in the triple jump for under-20s men and Charnwood's Abdillah Nassir was third in the senior men's 400m.
