She has chosen the Mount Group Riding for the Disabled Association, based at the livery centre, as one of the two charities she is supporting in her year of office.
Team members will take part in a variety of events including dressage, a walking trail through obstacles and Prix Caprilli – dressage with small jumps.
Pat Bishop, chairwoman of the group, said: "It's about controlling the horse, showing dexterity and co-ordination. It will be quite an event for them."
The equestrian competition will take place, in Abbey Park, from July 25-31 and will see the team competing against others from all over the country.
Members of the team have helped raise the £10,000 needed to take part in the games through a variety of sponsored events.
The money is needed to pay for accommodation for riders, grooms and carers in the city and for competition riding clothes.
"Everybody has done their bit and people have been very generous," Mrs Bishop said.
Team head coach Dawn Whitmore-Kirby said: "They've all been working very hard."
The team is: Paul Connell, 37, of Shepshed, Christine Durrance, 21, of Melton, Emily Smith, 17, of Hinckley, Matthew Jacques, 17, of Asfordby, Bradley Folkard, 15, of Heather and Gage Bloxson, 12, of Markfield. Matthew Dalley, 15, is from Scropton, Derbyshire, along with 15-year-old Daniel Longhurst.
