Star guests helped Leicestershire Tennis Association celebrate their annual awards at Leicester Tigers' Welford Road headquarters.

Presenting trophies and special category awards were County president and former British No.1 Mark Cox, former British women's No.1 Sam Smith, and Mike Harrison, president of Tigers and a vice-president of County tennis.

There were a number of highlights, including a lifetime achievement award for Hamilton's Paula Horobin, who has clocked up more than 30 years service to county tennis, and a volunteer award to The Leicestershire club's Colin Ayling.

Roundhill's Kerry Pollard was the senior player of the year, while Shirley Fox received the veteran of the year prize for a second time.

Matthew Richmond completed a successful season by being named top junior boy player, and also received a trophy for services to the county.

The Leicestershire club's men's veterans were team of the year, and Matthew Chilvers' outstanding individual performances earned him the special disability award.

Leicestershire and Rutland has one of the highest team-participation rates of anywhere in Britain, with a league structure stretching back nearly 100 years.
