Thieves ruin family holiday
A family looking forward to a well-earned holiday have been devastated by the theft of their caravan.
Rachelle Fisher and her four youngest children were planning to hit the road tomorrow to enjoy the Easter break in the £4,000 caravan she had saved up for more than a year for.
After a difficult year in which she split up with her partner, single mum Rachelle, from Hinckley, was as excited about the break as the children. She said: "We haven't been on holiday for so long and we were all looking forward to this.
"It's just been devastating for us and I'm frantic. I've been driving around looking for the caravan.

"I'm a single mum and I'd saved up for so long to buy it.
"The idea was to have a little trip at Easter and camp near Market Bosworth while I got used to towing it.
"Then we were going to take it down to Cornwall for five weeks in the summer."
However, Rachelle woke up on Tuesday morning to find the caravan had been taken from the drive.
She said: "The caravan is usually in storage but I had it outside at home while I did some jobs on it.
"It wasn't insured because I couldn't afford that until next month, but I had a good towbar lock on it and the legs were down.
"Whoever took it knew what they were doing.
"I thought it would be impossible to steal. I'm really struggling for money and it was hard saving up for a caravan that size but we needed a big one for all of us."
Rachelle, 38, a criminology student at De Montfort University, was planning to take Layton, nine, CJ, 11, Chloe, 16, and Kyle, 18, with her.
Chloe said: "We were all really looking forward to going away.
"CJ is really upset because he put his favourite toys and teddies in the caravan ready to go and he's lost them now."
The caravan is believed to have been taken between 1am and 8am on Tuesday.
A police spokeswoman said: "We had a report a caravan was taken off a drive outside a house in Nelson Drive, Hinckley, on Tuesday morning.
"The caravan is a cream four-berth Bailey Pageant.
"Our investigations are in their early stages and our inquires are ongoing."
Anyone with information about the theft is asked to call police on 101.

“Sansue, you sound like one of these proffessional bleaters. I did look into the "Market Harborough" debacle, but fail to see why some people should not pay fines. I've had a few in my time and have had to pay them-but I'm not blaming anyone else, certainly not the police, courts or local council.
As for the reference to race, was it a donkey derby or an egg and spoon race, don't see anything in the article or comments that need a race card drawn.”

“If you spend over a £1000 put a tracker in it, you would get it back then”

“Mick, your racist comment has been reported. Also, can you explain what happened in Market Harborough the other day then when the Police went in to collect fines?”

“""It wasn't insured because I couldn't afford that until next month"
Face/Palm. For god's sake, how hard is it. If you can't afford the insurance for whatever "it" is, then you can't afford "it" full stop.”

“We had ours broken into once when it was in storage and it looked as though they had been trying to take it but got must have been disturbed as the leg winder had been taken and the lock cover removed. Insurance is so cheap we pay £11 a month, after saving up so hard for the van its a shame they couldnt get around to insuring it, i hope they manage to trace/recover it.”
