Thieves snatch bottles of water left for residents after mains pipe burst in Leicester
Shocked residents reported thieves loading their car boots with bottled water which had been provided for residents at several points in the area.
Krish Ram, 47, who had been out and about supplying some of the bottled water to elderly neighbours in Lanesborough Road, said: "At about 6.30 this morning two cars pulled up and loaded some of the water into their cars. They weren't just taking one or two packs, they were filling up their cars. I've never seen them before.
"Before I could get out to have a word with them they had driven off. I find that really shocking.
"There's a good community spirit in the street. A lot of people are housebound or don't want to go out, so I've been taking water to them."

Paul Wallis, Severn Trent's regional service delivery manager for the East Midlands, said a water tanker and bottled water were there as a contingency although the water supply was fully restored.
"Following reports of bottled water being taken, it will now be kept behind the cordon where we are working for residents' use only."
