Thousands set to enjoy Diwali celebrations in Belgrave, Leicester
Thousands of people are expected to come to Leicester today to take part in the biggest Diwali celebrations outside of India.
Tonight's Diwali Day festivities include a programme of stage entertainment featuring Indian and Bollywood dancers from 6.45pm, with a firework display from 8.30pm to 8.50pm at Cossington Street Recreation Ground, in Belgrave.

Diwali celebrations in Leicester
Earlier in the evening, there will be an interactive display called Fireflies, taking place at Humberstone Gate, which will be shown on the big screen to celebrate the festival of lights from 4pm until 6pm.

The celebrations are the second major part of the city's Diwali programme, which began with the Diwali lights switch-on which was attended by more than 35,000 people.
Belgrave Road and the flyover will be closed from 6pm and will re-open at 9.30pm.
There will also be special park and ride facilities available for those travelling to and from the Golden Mile.
The service will operate from Birstall at 6pm and will run to Abbey Park Road until 8pm. Return journeys will run from Abbey Park Road, starting at 9pm with the last bus leaving at 10pm.
