I was delighted the Olympic torch came to Thurmaston.

Torchbearer John Noble kindly visited us at our WADO Karate club at Thurmaston memorial hall.

He told us the story of how he become to be a torchbearer and how the torch is now helping charities of every kind.

His story inspired everyone who attended and it was great to see the torch and be able to hold it and have photos taken.

It is a once-in-a-lifetime event that will not happen again in our country for hundreds of years.

However, we can all say we saw this one.

Pam Nethercot, Thurmaston.
