Free training for anyone supporting people affected by cancer is now available.

The Cancer Support Course is a qualification run by Macmillan Cancer Support in which participants learn a variety of skills, covering topics such as communication, counselling and bereavement.

Susan Hepworth, Macmillan learning and development manager, said: "The programme is for anyone who offers support to people affected by cancer – including volunteers, people from support groups and healthcare professionals.

"We've had great feedback from people who have taken part in courses, saying how much of a confidence boost it has been."
