Trains between Loughborough, Derby and Nottingham are being delayed by up to 50 minutes because of flooding in the Long Eaton area, caused by heavy rain.

A spokeswoman for East Midlands Trains said: "East Midlands Trains services have been suspended between Derby and Nottingham and a replacement bus service is in operation between those locations.

"In addition, East Midlands Trains tickets are being accepted on CrossCountry services between Derby and Nottingham. Trains between Nottingham and Matlock are only running between Derby and Matlock and some East Midlands Trains between Sheffield and London will be diverted and not call at Derby and Long Eaton. "We would like to apologise to customers for the delay to their journeys. As soon as Network Rail advises that the section of track near Long Eaton can be reopened, we will return services to normal as quickly as possible."

In Leicestershire, Flood Warnings have been issued by the Environment Agency for the River Soar at Cotes and Loughborough Moors, Mountsorrel and Zouch, and the River Wreake at East Goscote, Rearsby and Brooksby.
