Charlton boss Chris Powell has admitted he would be interested in taking Leicester City striker Jeff Schlupp on loan if nothing comes of his training stint with Manchester United.

The 20-year-old has been training with United for the past two weeks and City boss Nigel Pearson has agreed to extend his stay at Carrington.

"I hope it goes well for him, but if it doesn't there is another team in red that he can always wear the shirt of," he said.

"I have kept a close eye on Jeff. He played when I took the development team at City. He played a number of times and you could see him becoming a player there."

“Schlupp is currently our cover for Konch. To loan him out will only be possible if we take in extra cover ourselves- so why do it? Yes it would be good for the player and Charlton if he gets regular first team football- he will not get that up front with us this season.

So unless we get cover it looks unlikely and I do feel sorry for Schlupp, but the Man Utd experience will yet prove vital for him.

Cian Bolger looks set for Bolton after impressing at Centre Back for Bristol Rovers. I hope we will ask a decent fee, and this looks like good business IF he was not good enough to play for us. We have needed cover at Centre back so with him on our books I can only assume he did not make the grade.

Good luck Cian- a decent use of our academy who did not quite make it with us. Keep those we want and make money on those we have trained up but are destined for another club”
