City manager Nigel Pearson would not reveal whether the spell would turn into a transfer deal for the 20-year-old striker, who has been used as left-back cover by City this season.

Pearson said: "Jeff is enjoying himself there and he is there until the end of this week.

"It is good experience for him. Whether it becomes more is something for the clubs to discuss. I have spoken to him two or three times and things are going well."

Pearson has previously stated that United were "having a good look" at the youngster.

“Well Shluppie has been coming back according to the Mercury for the last couple of weekends. No sign of him coming back any time soon either. So the longer he stays at Man U the less chance of him coming back to us. Whatever happens I wish him well, it's just a shame Nigel didn't give the lad a run for us more regular. In his preferred position, that being a striker. Good luck Geoffrey wherever you go. It doesn't appear Nigel like you in the squad, and if and when you return you will more than likely be shipped out again on loan. Sad really.”

“I remember Carl Muggleton going to Liverpool on loan in his early years whilst we had Hooper on loan from them, nothing materialised, at the end of the day, has he signed for united, no.
He is on trial and Nigel Pearson probably spoke to him about United wanting to look at him and no doubt Jeff jumped at the chance, Pearson is right to give him the opportunity and it keeps a good relationship going between the clubs”

“How great it is to be supporting a team that has a first team with an average age around 24 and an under 18's team in the quarter final of the cup. The future looks very bright at city, the investment in the training facilities appears to be paying off and the scouting network is impressive. Hopefully NP is creating a legacy that will see us camped in the premier league for the next 10-15 years. Time will tell but you have to say it looks good at the minute.”

“Schlupp obviously doesn't figure too highly in Pearson's plans and although I would be disappointed to see him go he is at least going to a top Club and how can anyone deny him that opportunity?

Haven't Leicester City also done the same in the past, capturing players from obscurity so they can perform at a higher level?

Good luck, Jeff, I wish you well.”

“Look's like Jeff's on the way to Old Trafford, and good luck to the lad, although I will be sorry to see him leave.

Good news about Keane, who must be about the best 19 year old around, and is learning so much from Captain Morgan.”

“brilliant post Geoff. Just the way it is. Things are fleeting in football. (Unless you are Ryan Giggs that is)”
