Tributes have been paid to a woman who died in a car crash just outside a village.

Barbara Pick, 71, of Sandy Lane, Melton, was killed on the B6047 in Lowesby, near Melton.

A neighbour described Mrs Pick as "a lovely person" who was a good friend to many.

Mrs Pick was a passenger in the silver Ford Mondeo which was in collision with a silver Vauxhall Vivaro shortly after 4pm on Tuesday.

Neighbour Ivy Gray said of Mrs Pick: "She was a lovely person and we were really good friends. It's been such a shock.

"I've known her about seven years – we always got on well."

Appealing for witnesses, Detective Constable Patricia Draycott said: "The Vauxhall Vivaro was driving along the B6047 on the northbound carriageway, travelling from Tilton on the Hill, and the Mondeo was travelling in the opposite direction when the collision happened."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact Det Con Draycott on 0116 222 2222.
