Family and friends of a keen photographer who died in a motorbike crash have paid tribute to a "popular and respected" young man.

Daniel Bailey, who was 22 and worked in Next's digital photography department, died in an accident in Enderby.

His brother, Carl, 27, told the Leicester Mercury: "He was always happy and cheerful. He always had a smile on his face.

"He had so many friends. His friends are amazing and we are so thankful for their support over the last few days.

"He'd been working at Next since 2004 and had worked his way up. Photography was something he had found and stuck with.

"He really enjoyed it. It wasn't just about work for him.

"He was into music as well and was an animal lover. He adored his two dogs."

Daniel, of Littlethorpe, leaves his parents, Bill and Lorraine, and sister Michelle, 24, as well as Carl.

He had lived in the village since he was two years old and had been a pupil at Lutterworth Grammar School.

Daniel had worked at Next's headquarters in Enderby for four years.

A spokeswoman for Next said: "Daniel was a highly-popular and well-respected member of the team. He will be missed by many friends and colleagues. Our deepest sympathies and condolences are with Daniel's family at this difficult time."

His friends and co-workers have left dozens of messages in tribute to Daniel on his page on the social networking website Facebook.

Friend Nicholas Polydor said: "Rest in peace my friend. You were always kind, funny and had a beaming smile on your face.

"I have many fond memories of the years I have had the pleasure of knowing you. I'll never forget you dude."

Kristine Bloor wrote: "So much fun to be around and always smiling. A definite one in a million."

Another friend, Katie Pugh, wrote: "It doesn't seem fair. Such a beautiful person, taken too soon. Will never forget you and your crazy ways which made you so unique," while workmate Adam Greaves said: "I'm shocked. You were a top bloke, one of the very best."

The crash happened at 11.28am on Friday as Daniel was riding his Honda CBR 600 motorcycle along Forest Road, towards Narborough. No other vehicles were involved and Daniel was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police are appealing for witnesses to the crash. Anyone with information is asked to contact Detective Constable Simon Horton on 0116 222 2222.
