Some recent letters to Mailbox have challenged the very existence of Christ because it had not been verified by independent historians.

However, proof of God and His Son may be obtained in another way. How about proof from the future, rather than from the historical past?

The Book of Revelation is a good place to look.

First of all, the Revelation is stated as actually being from Jesus Christ. It was given in the first century AD.

If we could find some amazing forecasts which have come to pass, we may be assured that Jesus Christ is indeed the son of God.

Looking at Chapters 8 and 9, seven trumpets are to sound, signifying events which will take place.

Let us first consider the third trumpet because this is conclusively the event announced by name in the Revelation.

It signifies the poisonous star which is named Wormwood. This translates into Ukrainian as Chernobyl. The Chernobyl disaster occurred in 1986. Therefore, trumpets one and two must have occurred earlier.

Trumpet one describes a large part of the Earth being burnt up. This may have referred to the two world wars in Europe.

Trumpet two describes a vast mountain of fire. This may have referred to the nuclear weapons which were exploded in the Pacific.

The fourth trumpet, is easily identifiable and occurred in Kuwait in 1991. The Sun and the Moon were darkened while 800 oil wells burned for eight months.

Trumpet five signified the war in Iraq and described the weapons used. Tanks, for example, "have tails and stings like scorpions and it is in their tails that they possess power to injure men".

The Revelation says: "They have as their king... (one) whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon (meaning the destroyer).

In the Persian language, "Saddam" translates as "destroyer", providing a conclusive link between this event and the Bible.

Trumpets aside, a further prophesy has come true, which affects each of us every day.

In Chapter 13 unbelievers have allowed the Devil's number to be displayed upon everything that is sold in the shops.

For the past 20 years or so, this imperfect number has been encoded in the retail bar code and can easily be seen right now.

It signifies that man is all the while trying to transcend God in some way, instead of accepting salvation which is freely offered.

How else could these events be foretold unless they were directly from Jesus Christ who gave the Revelation 1900 years ago?

These prophesies have come true in the lifetimes of many of us

. Above all else they show that God has a plan for the world. Right now, this appears as a mystery, but we are told it will be revealed when the time of the seventh trumpet arrives.

Nigel Mutimer, Coalville.

This is delusion in its most extreme form.”

“Talk about attaching what you believe to what you want to be true.
What rubbish.....encoded in bar codes? Does the bible have a bar code? if it does it must be satan's work”

“I have to say that I have rarely seen such claptrap as this. A random allocation of events to the sounding of trumpets as a proof of God's existenece is totally ridiculous. One could name literally thousands of events which could be attributed to these trumpets - how about the Black Death 0r the Great Fire of London or the numerous war and plagues in the past two thousand years.

We are often assured that God has a plan for this world - in that case why has he waited so very long before implementing it? I am reminded of a statement I once read - If there is a God, he's not doing a very good job.”

“If Mr Mutimer considers this degree of evidence 'conclusive', I hope he's never called for jury service...”
