Cute-as-a-button Jose Vanders says she was brought up on a diet of Labi Siffre, James Taylor and Joni Mitchell, and started playing the keyboard at the age of three.

The singing, songwriting sensation is currently storming the live circuit, having played a session on Rob da Bank's Radio 1 show and bagged herself a programme presenting job on BBC3.

She also managed about 100 gigs while studying for her A-levels; she's still only 18.

Compared by some to the Kate Nash/Lilly Allen school of young, female singer-songwriters, she's been steadily gaining a reputation as a talent to watch out for.

Last year saw her self release a debut EP, Transitional Language, which sold out within days.

The woman herself says: "I woke up one morning, washed my face, moisturised and decided to be a pop star.

"Although before that came endless hours of piano practice with my dad standing behind me singing West End hits and Billy Joel at the top of his lungs."

Catch her at this intimate venue, before she gets huge.
