Wigston: For people aged 50 and over, Age Concern Oadby and Wigston offers a home-cooked, three-course hot lunch for £4.60 each weekday at their Paddock Street centre and on Monday, Wednesday and Friday lunchtimes at St. Peter's Church Hall, Oadby.

People with mobility problems can have dinners dropped delivered to their homes for a charge of £2.

The Paddock Street centre is also open for coffee each weekday from 9.30am until 3.30pm and on Saturdays from 9.30am to noon.

Wigston: Members of Wigston Afternoon Women's Institute were given a nostalgic talk, with slides, on prefabs in Leicester by Brian Johnson.

He described where they were sited and how they were quickly slotted together to make emergency homes for servicemen returning home from the Second World War.

Birstall: Dr R J Gornall will give a talk on Plant Collections at Holly Hayes Environment and Heritage Resources Centre, Birstall tomorrow at 7.30pm.

Birstall: The library in Wanlip Lane is holding a Mini Movers Play Session, on Thursdays from 1.30pm to 2.30pm, for children aged up to five.

It is free and offers fun based around stories and activities.
