Rothley: Soar Valley Accordion Club will present a concert on Saturday, July 11, at the Rothley Centre, in Mountsorrel Lane, commencing at 8pm.

The artistes taking part will be Bert Santilly (accordion) and Hugh Boyde (mandolin).

In addition, Neil Fodden, editor of Accordion World, will be present with his trade stand.

There will be a bar and a raffle. Admission is £6.50.

Ashby: On Saturday, July 11, David Taylor, MP for North West Leicestershire, will open Leicester Diocesan Guild Ringing Festival, at St Helen's Church.

The event starts at 2pm. There will be experienced ringers on hand to offer advice and information, handbell ringing, a simulator bell, quizzes, a tombola and refreshments.

The event is free to attend. The bells of St Helen's Church will be available for open ringing from 5pm.

Rothley: A coffee morning will be held on Saturday, at the Rothley Centre, in Mountsorrel Lane.

Organised by the Mothers' Union, it starts at 10am.

Stalls will sell cakes, groceries and mystery parcels and there will be a tombola and a raffle.

Admission, including tea or coffee and biscuits, will be 50p. All proceeds will go the Mother's Union Chalet Holiday Project for needy families.

Nether Broughton: The annual cream teas in aid of Action for Children was held at the home of Phil and Margaret Dorn on Saturday.

Entertainment was provided by the Old Dalby Music Group. There was also a cake stall, plant stall and tombola.

A total of £482 was raised for the charity.

Old Dalby: Midsummer Music took place in the school hall on Saturday.

Old Dalby Singers, Farmer Duo, Old Dalby Music Group and Old Dalby School Choir took part, with piano and flute soloists from the school and solos by Jeff Hopewell.

Friends of Old Dalby School laid on a sumptuous buffet supper during the interval.

Proceeds from the event will go towards school funds.
