Guild presents cheque for school equipment
Members of Ibstock Central Townswomen's Guild hosted a successful guest evening at Ibstock Junior School.
Almost 90 members, friends and invited guests enjoy the evening, sharing sparkling fruit punch and an assortment of cakes.
Guild president Mrs Lilian Tointon presented a cheque for £700 to Lynn Slinger, head teacher at Forest Way School.
The money was raised as part of the Let's Get Buzzy campaign set up to help buy specialist equipment for the new school in Coalville.
Forest Way School provides an education for pupils aged three to 19 who have a range of learning difficulties.
Following the presentation an entertainer called Our Flossie performed songs form the 20s, 30s and 40s.
The event raised more than £200 for the Guild's charity The New Wycliffe Home for Blind and Partially Sighted People.

Given food for thought with a reading entitled We are Survivors (for those born before 1950) and much laughter with a quiz whose answers all began with WI.
The evening was rounded off with tea and cake and the finalising of a picnic at Kilworth House Theatre.
The next meeting, on July 9, is skittles. Details 01455 843618.
