Public health officials are urging students to make sure they are up to date with their jabs for measles and meningitis before returning to university in Leicestershire.

The Health Protection Agency has also published information on how to spot the early signs of the infections, which are potentially life-threatening.

"University bars and campuses where lots of students are in close proximity is an ideal place for bacteria and viruses to spread."
