Van driver Alex Chard, of Chester, dies in a crash on the A50 in Leicestershire
Police have released the name of a van driver who died in a collision with a lorry on the A50 in Leicestershire yesterday morning.
Alex Chard was declared dead at the scene of the collision near Junction 24 of the M1, near Castle Donington.
The 21-year-old, who is from Chester was driving a white Vauxhall Vivaro van which collided with an articulated lorry at 9.25am, police said.
The inquiry into the crash is being led by Leicestershire Police’s serious collision investigation unit.

Detective Constable Nick Bryan, an investigator with the unit, said the incident happened in the southbound carriageway at the exit slip road of Junction One of the A50, near Castle Donington.
Det Con Bryan said: “Both of the vehicles were travelling on the southbound carriageway when the incident happened.
“I would appeal to anyone who was driving on the A50 when the incident happened and saw either of these two vehicles in the moments leading up to the incident.”
