Police want to find a man who assaulted a 13-year-old boy after a snowball hit his van.

The boy was taken to hospital with a bruised head and legs.

The incident happened at 8.45pm on January 22, when the boy and his friends were playing in the snow at Grantham Road skate park, in Bottesford.

After a snowball hit his van, the man stopped and got out. He approached the youngsters and hit the boy.

He then got back into his van, where a woman passenger was waiting, and drove off.

The driver was white, skinny, about 6ft and aged 20 to 25. He was wearing jeans, a hooded top, hi-top shoes and spoke with a deep voice.

His vehicle is a small, silver or white box van with writing in blue, green or black on the side, which had three letters on the top line and the word "Auto'' underneath.

Pc Sharon Roscoe said: "Although the victim wasn't seriously hurt, he was incredibly scared.

"If you recognise the van from our description, please get in touch.

"We have carried out inquiries locally, but it may be the car came from outside Bottesford.

"If you have seen a van similar to the one described, please don't hesitate to get in touch."

“snowball fights used to be a few mates messing about no one got hurt and no property got damaged , now they are used to attack any one and anything that moves, the van or car , as according to the report it could be either, may have been that blokes pride and joy maybe he did not want a dent in it!! Also why did he go to hospital? he was not badly injured according to recent adverts he should have seen his GP or rang NHS direct for advice or better still as georgeisafish says "don't throw snow balls at vans"”

“Wow! January 22nd. Can ANYONE remember what they were doing on January 22nd? Why does it take so long for these stories to go public?”
