Police are warning people about a slight increase in mobile phone thefts in an area near De Montfort University.

During the past 28 days, 10 mobile phones and tablet devices have been stolen near Bede Park and the wider Western Boulevard area of the city.

The usual method is a person on a cycle riding by and snatching the phone from the victim.

Sergeant Will Cheshire advised people not to carry their phones around on show, to be aware of who is around and consider registering expensive items such as phones, laptops and iPads on the free property register on the website below.
