Wedding ring cut off by fire crew
A woman had to have her wedding ring cut from her finger after it became stuck.
The woman went to Western fire station, in Aikman Avenue, Leicester, at 9.50am on Saturday after her finger became swollen and the ring started causing her pain.
Firefighters removed the ring.
Crew manager Richard Craston, who was on duty at the time, said: "The lady had had the ring on her finger for years, but her fingers had started to swell and I think it had got to the stage where it was beginning to cause her some pain.
"I understand she had visited a jeweller who was not able to help and suggested she came to see us.
"It is quite a simple procedure and it is quite easy for her to have the ring repaired."

“Why are you even wasting columns on this? My Grandmother had to have hers cut off a few years ago. SHe didn't make the newspaper.”

“Why does everything in this paper have to be berrated if its not extemely newsworthy? A light hearted article is always welcome and to know the fire service is occassionally used in the correct manner too is surely nice to hear. We do not need dramatic drama or sorrow all the time!”

“It would have been news if she had called out the Fire Crew instead of going to their station.”
