Wednesday's Pick: Children's Activity: Spells and Potions
At Charnwood Museum this summer, you can take part in one of a series of holiday workshops.
There is an exciting range of activities to choose from – arts and crafts to handling live animals – and a special potions class.
Today's class is the potions one, and owes a debt to Harry Potter. But don't worry, there's nothing sinister about this magical summer session.
Young witches and wizards (over the age of six) will love conjuring up things that go whizz, bang and pop, with the assistance of Charnwood museum's very own Professor Snape.
Children must be accompanied by an adult on the workshops and places must be booked and paid for in advance.
Spaces are also still available on the popular animal handling sessions. Jungle Giants visit on August 5 and 26. Mega Beasts, which include a Carpet Python, King Snake, Leopard Gecko and Horned Frog, will be appearing on August 12. Suitable for ages three to 12, places cost £2 per person. Sessions last for 45 minutes.
Charnwood Museum is in Queens Park in the centre of Loughborough and is open from 10am to 4.30pm, Monday to Saturday. Sunday opening hours are from 2pm to 5pm.
