Pc Shaun Gent, of Coalville police station.

"To the tremendous credit and strength of Cherie, she has ensured that her husband's legacy will continue."

Leicestershire Constabulary Award Scheme Certificate

Winner: Robert Smart, security officer at the Rushes shopping centre in Loughborough. Mr Smart helped police detain a suspect in June last year by using his local knowledge to suggest where the man would be hiding.

The 2009 Harry Wileman Memorial Bowl

Winner: beat officer for Sileby, Pc Gordon Doudie, of Loughborough police station.

According to senior officers: "The local youth club had been closed for three years and as a result there was nothing for the local youths to do.

"He now devotes hours of his own time to being a member of the club's committee.

"Gordon has raised thousands of pounds for local charities and good causes through his assorted fund raising activities – the Three Peaks Challenge in aid of Rainbows, a cycle ride from Cumbria to Whitby for a local girl with cerebral palsy and he has recently cycled across Scotland to raise money for a young man who was involved in a life changing accident.
