Police are appealing for witnesses after a woman was assaulted and her phone was stolen.

The incident, which happened in Aylestone Road at the junction with Walnut Street, near Leicester Royal Infirmary, happened on Tuesday, January 15, between 5.15pm and 5.45pm.

The 26-year-old victim was assaulted by a man known to her.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident and remains on police bail pending further inquiries.

Pc Matt Linnell said: "This area of the city is used at all times of day, so there may be someone out there who can help with our inquiries.

"We would like to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and saw the assault or anything which may help the investigation."
