A man suffered bruising after he was attacked by a woman in a street.

Police yesterday revealed the incident happened between 11pm and 11.05pm on Saturday, September 1, near to the Western Hotel, in Western Road, Leicester.

The 39-year-old victim was walking towards Bede Island with a friend when a woman started shouting at them.

The woman was joined a short while later by a man.

The victim was then approached by the woman, who assaulted him, causing bruising to his legs, knees and back.

The woman suspect is described as white, about 5ft 5in, slim, with mousey brown or dark hair.

The man who joined her is described as white, also about 5ft 5in, of medium build and with crew-cut dark brown hair.

Pc Leigh Spencer, investigating the incident, said: "I would ask anyone who saw any of the incident take place, to get in touch."

Anyone with information is asked to contact Pc Spencer on 101 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer. When prompted, key in his identification number 0959.
