A young woman fled screaming from a house after two men took it in turns to rape her, a jury heard.

The 20-year-old was allegedly pushed into the men's car in the city centre earlier that night.

She was taken to a terraced property in Battenberg Road, off Fosse Road North, in the city, where she was stripped and forced to have sex with both men against her wishes, it was claimed.

Masimba Chitakunye (25), of Waterloo Way, Leicester city centre, and Nelson Mubiru (26), of Battenberg Road, both deny raping the woman, as well as aiding and abetting each other to rape her, in the early hours of November 7, 2010.

They claim the woman willingly accompanied them to Mubiru's home and consented to sex.

Matthew Lowe, prosecuting, told Leicester Crown Court the alleged victim and her friend were the worse for drink after a night out in the city centre.

They went to look for a taxi in Belvoir Street at 1am, where they encountered the defendants in a car.

Chitakunye suggested giving them a lift home and the alleged victim's friend got into the vehicle, but then got out.

As she did, it was alleged the victim was "pushed" into the back of the two-door car.

Mr Lowe said: "They stopped at a garage to get vodka and she was effectively trapped in the back and was knocking on the window trying to get attention.

"She pleaded to be let out but they ignored her."

He said the woman was taken to Mubiru's bedroom in the house.

Mr Lowe added: "Mubiru forced her down on to the bed and began to take off her clothes.

"She made it plain she didn't want to have sex with them.

"She was scared and began crying, pleading with them to stop and they simply ignored her."

Chitakunye allegedly had sex with the woman, assisted by Mubiru. Mr Lowe said: "Then the two men swapped."

The woman briefly calmed down and got Chitakunye's phone number, which she stored in her phone, the court heard. She then became hysterical, saying she wanted her clothes and wanted to go home.

Mr Lowe said: "She ran out crying and screaming, followed by Mubiru.

"She ran to a nearby house of a couple and ran inside, followed by Mubiru who was saying it was a lovers' tiff.

"She told the couple what happened and Mubiru eventually left."

The woman reported the matter to the police a week later.

When arrested, both men admitted meeting the woman, saying she willingly went with them but after having consensual sex suddenly became hysterical and ran off.

The trial continues.
