Woman is spat at in street
A thug spat at a woman in the street – apparently because she was wearing an Islamic head scarf.
Police have appealed for help tracing the man, who targeted the woman in Humberstone Road, near Leicester city centre.

The 20-year-old woman was walking near the St Matthew's service station when she noticed three young men approaching her.
One of them spat on her as they passed by and the three began laughing as they walked away.

Officers have released a CCTV image of three people they want to trace.
The incident happened shortly before 1pm on Monday, February 4.
Suleman Nagdi, spokesman for the Leicestershire Federation of Muslim Organisations, said the assault was "cowardly".
Mr Nagdi said: "Fortunately, incidents like this are very rare in Leicester and I would hope this is a one-off.
"I urge anyone who can help the police trace the person who spat at this woman to come forward.
"I am sure the courts and the police will take appropriate action.
"To spit on somebody like this is completely unacceptable.
"The victim may be feeling vulnerable and anxious at the moment, but I hope she recovers and does not allow this experience to alter the way she lives her life."
Pc Dave Adams said: "The victim felt upset and frightened following the incident and feels that she was targeted because she was wearing a hijab.
"We will not tolerate people feeling intimidated and frightened on our streets and I would urge anyone with information to call us.
"The road was busy so there is a possibility that passers-by may be able to help."
The three suspects are white, 18 or 19 and of slim build.
One was wearing a peaked cap and another was wearing a black hooded top.
Contact Pc Adams on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.

“I suspect that any one of these three (and probably all of them) would be duly outraged if their girlfriend/sister/mother was spat at in the street by a stranger for no tangible reason than they way they looked or dressed - yet they cannot comprehend this situation in reverse enough to know not to perpetrate it themselves. Funny how mental deficiency works, isn't it...”

“Why is unimportant. The fact that it took three "big" "men" to attack/jeer at one woman is the problem.”

“How do we know it was because of the head scarf ???
I got spat at last week, I wasnt wearing one.
Sometimes good to use that excuse what with race incidents getting priority, If i would have reported I probably wouldnt even of got a call back, let alone a story in the paper”

Rare in Leicester... Wake up Nagdi this happens all the time in Leicester. No real action gets taken against racists and its getting worse day by day. If the muppets are caught they will get nothing more than a warning.”
