Woman who stabbed boyfriend is jailed
A mother-of-three who stabbed her boyfriend to death in the street has today been jailed indefinitely for public protection.
Sally Wood (35) will have to serve a minimum of three-and-a-half years behind bars for the manslaughter of Stephen Matthew Vidal (41).
She was convicted at a recent Leicester Crown Court trial, but cleared of murder.
Wood, of Wyville Row, Braunstone, fatally stabbed Mr Vidal (41) in the heart during a row in Carlton Street, near Leicester Royal Infirmary, after they spent New Year's Day drinking brandy with friends.
They had also taken cannabis and cocaine.
Judge Michael Pert QC said Wood posed a substantial risk of harm to future partners and she would not be released, on a life licence, until a parole board was satisfied it was safe to do so.
