Work on Burleys Way flyover set to continue over the weekend after crash

One lane of the slip road in the same direction, immediately next to the damaged parapet, will also periodically close to allow repair works to be completed.
Drivers can still use the roundabout beneath the flyover, but the extra traffic from the flyover means delays are likely.
Leicester City Council traffic manager Andy Thomas said: "The accident on Wednesday morning caused damage to the flyover parapets, which means we've had to remove the debris and carry out checks to ensure that part of the flyover is safe for people to use.
"Burleys Flyover is a key part of the city's inner ring road, and it is used by thousands of motorists every day, so the knock-on effect of this accident and the necessary repair work are bound to cause some disruption.
"We are doing everything we can to get the site made safe and get the road fully re-opened as soon as possible."

“Surely the fact that this happened on the flyover made it worse than it should have been. This would have been cleared in a couple hours on a normal road.”

“I hope the city council will be able to claim the full cost of repairs to the insurer of the Audi. Of course there will be thousands of lost man-hours and wasted fuel that cannot be costed.”

“Leicester city council take note, same will happen when they take down the Belgrave flyover. This council isnt car friendly , it is removing a lane in Newarke Street. Spending money to create a problem, crazy.
Never mind, they can spend more money resolving the problems after.”

“Whilst I appreciate that we cannot see all of the damage from the picture shown, the repair time does seem to be excessively long.”

Plenty of overtime for the Council workers though”
