York Minster issues statement supporting the reinterment of Richard III's remains in Leicester

“I also note the painting of Richard lll to which we have all become used to is by an unknown 16th century artist that is 1500 and something, King Richard lll died in battle 22nd Aug 1485 so whoever did his painting could only work on personal past memories,those who knew him or on stories about him.

The people who have worked to produce the lifelike image we see now is based on a science and skill foremost, it is not a case of putting clay on a skull and forming a face it would have been done I am sure in a computer to start with.”
