An award-winning country pub will hold a three-day beer festival celebrating the best of English ales in honour of St George.

More than 25 beers, each bearing a patriotic name, and 10 ciders will be served at the Cow and Plough, in Gartree Road, Oadby.

The three-day event begins tomorrow, St George's Day, and will include live music on Friday and Saturday nights.

A camp site has been set aside for visitors in the fields around the pub.

Licensee Barry Lount said: "The best thing about St George's beers is that each one is brewed especially for the day, so there is something new for real ale drinkers to try."

The pub will also serve its Foxes Revenge brew during the festival to celebrate Leicester City's triumph in the League One Championship this year.

The beer was first brewed in 2003, when the team won promotion to the Premiership division.

The Cow and Plough has been named best real ale pub in Leicestershire for the past five years by CAMRA.
