Five men have been arrested and three men hospitalised following a street brawl in the city centre in the early hours of this morning.

Police were called to Belvoir Street shortly after 3.30am following reports of a fight outside the Chilli White nightclub.

Half of Belvoir Street and a large section of Granby Street remained cordoned off today while officers continued their investigation of the scene.

A force spokeswoman issued an appeal for information.

She said: "Three men in their 20s were found to have been injured and were taken to the Leicester Royal Infirmary with serious but not life-threatening injuries.

"Five men have been arrested on suspicion of assault.

If anyone witnessed the incident they are urged to get in touch."
