“There's a similar traffic light sequence at the junction of Soar Valley Way/Leicester Road and the right turn into Glenhills Way. Traffic turning right sometimes assume the oncoming traffic will stop simply because the oncoming right turning traffic has stopped.”

“Ps, the best £25 I've ever spent was on a dash-cam for my car. One two occassions I've had the utter pleasure of saying to someone who had bumped into another car and was trying to blame the other party "are you absolutely sure you wish to continue with that position" whilst pointing at the camera in my car! It s great watching the look of "oh sh**..........." spread across their face!!”

“What a piece of non news! Thousands of cars on the road... two bump into each other, no one hurt. End of.. for eveyone else apart from the two parties and the insurance companies! Anyone who drives carefully and within the law should negotiate this turn without issue. I have turned there literally hundreds of times. I guess there will be a follow up article tomorrow telling us what courtesy cars were suppled... :-)”

“Rodders, I feel your pain. The standard of driving on Welford Road is shocking, all the way down to Wigston.
This is what I meant by people not understanding the highway code, the signage, and the traffic lights. Anyone with eyes can clearly see that the right turn filter you refer to has a green arrow filter attached to it which, as any fule no, means you ONLY HAVE RIGHT OF WAY WHEN LIT; at all over times you can turn giving way to oncoming traffic!”

“I have had more than one near miss at that junction when travelling out of the city.
Some City bound traffic turning right in to chapel lane think that the line of stationary traffic waiting at the right turn red light on the opposite side into Knighton lane east also applies to the other two straight ahead county bound lanes when in fact they are green.”

“Rob, how odd, we are saying the same thing yet I get lots of red and you get lots of green! I get the sense I may be unpopular ;-)”

“well, Sansue. you can judge by the red arrows that people think you should NOT obey traffic lights, huh?”

“Seriously, how hard is it NOT to crash at this junction?! It really is a very easy to use junction if you follow the highway code, the signage, and the traffic lights.”
