Steel band brings carnival theme to party

Sharnford: The village golden jubilee committee is planning a fun day with a Caribbean beach party on The Park from noon-5pm on Sunday, June 14.

The day will include a decorated pram, trike and bike parade for children, starting from the top of Henson Way at 12.30pm.

This year's Caribbean theme will be supported by Redmoor School Steel Band playing at various times throughout the afternoon. Arena events will include children's fancy dress, a tug-of-war and races.

Castle Donington: The summer fete for Castle Donington Parish Church will be held on Saturday, June 13, at St Edward's Church Hall, St Anne's Lane, Castle Donington.

Sapcote: The heritage display in Sapcote Library this month tells the story of the Welcome To Sapcote sign, which shows valued village buildings, historic trades and a likeness of the last Lord Basset.
