Two are charged with murder after man is stabbed to death in Loughborough
Detectives have charged two people with murder after a 23-year-old man was stabbed to death.
Nitu Babu Das, of Cleeve Mount, Loughborough, died at the town's NHS walk-in centre in the early hours of Monday.
He had suffered a single stab wound.
He had been taken there following a disturbance in Meadow Lane, in the town, between 2.10am and 2.35am but paramedics were unable to save his life.
A post-mortem examination confirmed the stab wound had caused his death.
A 38-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman have both been charged with murder.
The woman has also been charged with perverting the course of justice.
The pair were due to appear at Loughborough Magistrates' Court this morning
Detectives have stressed they believed the death was an isolated incident and have revealed they thought up to six people were involved.
They have also renewed their appeal for information about what happened.
Detective Chief Inspector Neil Castle, who is leading the investigation, said: "We would like to reassure people who live and work in Loughborough that we believe this was an isolated incident.
"Fortunately, in Leicestershire incidents such as this are rare and we are committed to do everything we can to keep it that way."
He said he wanted to hear from anyone who was in the area who may have heard loud noises at the time of the incident but had not thought them to be important.
Police officers and forensics experts spent most of Monday searching the area around where Meadow Lane bridges the Grand Union Canal.
They also had a nearby flat in Cartwright Street under guard.
Anyone with information should call the police on 0116 222 2222 or Crimestoppers, which is anonymous, on 0800 555111.
