Leicester City must claw back the gap on Hull City and keep themselves in the chase for automatic promotion, striker David Nugent said.

Hull have a six-point gap on City after their 1-0 win against Charlton Athletic, who City face tomorrow night at the King Power Stadium.

Nugent said it was vital they clawed back the deficit as quickly as possible.

City have had a weekend off after going out of the FA Cup and Nugent said they must get back to winning ways fast.

"It will be tough for us to win our games in hand but, if we can get the six points we need to pull them back level pegging, we will be back up there," he said.

"It is massive month for us. We have a lot of games in February. January was just as packed and, hopefully, we can produce the same form as in January."

City have started the month with back-to-back defeats at Peterborough and at home in the FA Cup to Huddersfield.

However, January was a great month for them with five wins from six, a streak which saw manager Nigel Pearson earn the Manager of the Month award, and striker Chris Wood just miss out on the Player of the Month accolade.

Nugent said Pearson would be delighted with the award, although he wouldn't show it.

"I think he would be quite happy but he wouldn't show it," he said.

"He is level-headed about it. Deep down he will be pleased and the players are made up for him.

"Woody has just missed out on the Player of the Month award as well. It was a good month for the club and, hopefully, February will be the same.

"Five wins out of six in January is a great return. You can't argue with that. It is good for the club.

"Obviously, we are just outside automatic promotion now but with the games coming up we can get back in there," Nugent added.

“Hya Foxfan. too true what you say. I watched Man U v Reading last night and King would not have been able to get a foot near the ball in that Company. He is indeed lightweight as I've said often. Wellens deserves respect for PAST efforts. Well past it.

Froze in Skeggie last weekend I envy your climate. At least I'm off to see daughter in Egypt early March, she lives their and then off to Spain in May. back to Egypt for couple weeks in October and in between its a case of hope for the best and bum clenched tightly. Rather like tomorrow night with City. No need to clench too tightly with Wood fit. Had he not been you'd have needed a crow bar to unclench it.”

“The Cornish comedian is really bringing out his best....griping now because Watford & Hull are doing what we WANT to do..I.e. go on a run that leaves the opposition in the dust! It's a level playing field Mr. Genius...errrrr tell me where the football league rules dictate that Leicester City are banned form signing like players to those Messr's Zola & Bruce have secured? Jealousy is not becoming of you Victor Meldrew....ever considered that their combined PREMIERSHIP EXPERIENCE might be coming in to play here????
& then he saves the best till last, King & a now fit Wellens make an outstanding midfield REALLY?
Then how so the majority are saying Wellens best days are well & truly behind him...& how come the player himself admitted to being truly off the mark when last selected? How come results suffer when King gets selected, because the midfield is too lightweight?
We'll have had an OUTSTANDING season IF we get promoted...if not, go tell the owners that we've had an "outstanding" season.....”

“Mmmmm I wasn't aware the Kindergarten opened such long hours. Children at play or what. Looks like the pre teen toy town "debating" society page. If football crowds are made up by an example of this then no wonder they are labelled as the thickest dopes in creation.”

“FoxUlike, I don't blame Watford, or more recently Hull, I blame the Football League. Had neither vied for promotion little might have been said. I picked up on the Watford injustice early, a foreign owner is using this loophole to buy his way into the Premier League by legal subterfuge. Foreign loans don't count as loans, so 12 Granada and Udinese players are playing for Watford, Hull have three good Egyptians plus their other 'normal' English loans. It is up to Leicester, Palace and whoever to thwart them. The loophole will surely be closed next season. For the rest, ta, and a smile. We shouldn't mock dobbo too much, as Frankie Howard once said, " It's wicked to mock the afflicted". But I keep my Foxfan1/Dobbo file burnished.”

“The season got very interesting with the results of our rivals on Saturday and really puts our 2nd place for the past couple of weeks into context. With that in mind I have looked at all the promoted clubs since season 2004 and the points total they needed. The runners up points total ranged from 91 WBA in 09-10 down to 79 Stoke in 07-08 giving an average total of 86 points to team that finished 2nd. I have looked at our remaining fixtures and predict another 31 points from 16 games giving up a total of 84. This may or may not be enough. My predictions on points gained are as follows Charlton 3, Blackpool 1, Ipswich 1, Leeds 3, Sheff Wed 3, Derby 3, Millwall 3, Barnsley 3, Brighton 0, Cardiff 0, Birmingham 3, Bolton 3, Palace 0, Watford 1, Florists 1.”

“Fox, Brilliant, That says it all, but he'll come back and say that, he does not do bending down, he does not need the money, he does not bet, he does not like cabbage, and he'll remind us again that his beloved Leicester city are just plain ordinary without Chris Wood, and that he's been telling that since the start of the season.”
