Here comes the Summer
If you like a bit more than a glacé cherry to liven up your Sundae then look no further than De Montfort Hall!
Obligatory sundae pun out the way, lets move on to this year's line-up, which so far includes (drum roll please) Tinchy Stryder, Mumford & Sons, The Sunshine Underground, Go! Team, The Whip, The Fall, Local Natives, Erland & the Carnival, The Woodentops, Laura Viers, Lou Rhodes... is that enough yet?
No? Okay, there's also Goldheart Assembly, A Genuine Freakshow and, finally, Wave Pictures.
And that's just for starters as act-booker Rob Challice has promised further announcements before the end of March.
Summer Sundae hits double figures this year and the head honchos are promising big things from the little festival.
Actually, with more than 100 acts playing six stages over three days, it's not so little anymore, but you know what we mean.
"We're really excited about this one," says Rob. "It's already looking like one of our most vibrant years yet."
Tinchy, the teeny-weeny grime rapper who hit the number one spot twice last year, is "quite possibly the hottest thing in British pop music right now" and "a real coup" for the festival, says Rob.
But it wasn't long ago that the petite rapper was performing on pirate radio stations and at underground nights.
"It's mad, to an extent," says Tinchy of his bling lifestyle. "But now it's getting quite normal, which in itself actually feels quite weird. I actually come out expecting to be recognised.
"I don't really get papped a lot, though, which is maybe because they don't like the area I'm in."
Then there's Mumford & Sons, who shifted nearly a quarter of a million copies of their debut album, Sigh No More. They're a band "on the verge of greatness" according to the Summer Sundae peeps.
Marcus Mumford, Country Winston, Ben Lovett and Ted Dwane are four friends from West London whose "old-time sound marries the magic of Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young with the might of Kings Of Leon".
They were placed on the BBC Sound Of 2009 shortlist; a London ICA show sold out in 24 hours.
"We didn't consider ourselves contenders in the pretty daunting London music scene," says Marcus of the band's early days in 2007. "There was never any idea of competition, just pure enjoyment."
As well as Tinchy and the Mumford boys, Summer Sundae reckon they have picked out the one to watch in the coming year.
"Summer Sundae Weekender has always had its finger on the pulse where new acts are concerned – Kate Nash, Amy Winehouse, Noah and The Whale, Jamie T and many more besides performed at the festival prior to superstardom," says Rob.
"Local Natives are tipped by many as this year's band-most-likely-to, and as recipients of widespread critical acclaim, they look likely to succeed.
"Another band attracting a lot of attention is Erland & The Carnival who will add psychedelic flourishes to proceedings."
And we can't miss out the acts for the older generation, can we?
"As always there will be a smattering of legendary performers at this year's event," says Rob.
"Alongside 80s rock band The Woodentops, they don't come more legendary than The Fall."
There are no clues as to the remaining acts, but Rob is promising the 10th birthday celebrations will mark the best Sundae yet. Summer Sundae Weekender is particularly proud of its 10-year history.
"With a holistic approach to planning it has consciously retained the same boutique, bijou atmosphere and laid-back cadence as the inaugural event.
"With yet more attention shown to all aspects of the festival, from improved and expanded camping facilities and further investment in The Garden, The Kidzone, Films and Comedy Tents and The Village areas, there will be more treats to tantalise and entice patrons to celebrate Summer Sundae than ever before."
Early bird weekend tickets are on sale now, so don't wait until the next announcement to make your mind up.
