We deserved our victory, says Leicester City boss Nigel Pearson
Leicester City manager Nigel Pearson said his side deserved victory against Blackpool, despite the controversial nature of their winner.
City claimed three vital points when Ben Marshall fired home a second-half penalty after Jamie Vardy was adjudged to have been fouled inside the box by Blackpool's Tiago Gomes.

It was a decision that left Blackpool boss Ian Holloway fuming.
Pearson said City had done enough to get the break and, in fact, could have had more penalties.

"We deserved to win the game regardless of whether people feel it wasn't a penalty," he said.
"I have seen the one that was given and I can see why it was given, there was contact. The ones before I don't know why they weren't given.
"Ultimately, over the course of the game I thought we did enough to win and we were the better side."
Pearson admitted that, after back-to-back away defeats in the Championship and Tuesday's dismal display against Burton in the Capital One Cup, it was vital City claimed victory, especially as they now go into the international break.
"We needed to win today," he said.
"I think it is another illustration of the Championship. We are four games in and have won half our games but we also have two defeats, which is something we have to improve.
"We could easily be four points better off. What you have to do is deal with disappointments in this league pretty well.
"In our previous two league games, we have been unfortunate. We were very poor in midweek but have bounced back.
"I am very pleased for the players because we go into an international break with a bit more of a positive feel.
"This game shows what a topsy-turvy league this is. You go one win and three defeats and the perspective is totally different, which shows people in my role have to be a bit more level-headed than others."
Full-back Ritchie De Laet had to be replaced in the starting line-up after picking up an injury in the warm-up but Pearson said he should be fit for the trip to Wolves on September 16.
"His back was stiff and he didn't feel he could play," said Pearson.
"He will be fine for Wolves and Richie Wellens might be, you never know.
"I would rather know that before we start and make an adjustment to the starting line-up and the subs, so that is what happened.
"Sean St Ledger came in and negotiated 65 minutes and that was good for us. Even when Jeff Schlupp went on at left-back, we were able to deal with the changes pretty well."

“LCFC were like a breath of fresh air in their performance on Saturday evening.
Not only were we committed to attacking but we were also far less wasteful in possession. More control of the ball = sustained pressure on the opposition who will eventually wilt under the pressure.
I just wish that Schmeichel would vary his distribution more. Not one long hesh up to the forwards was directly won by us, and the proportion of second balls won fell as the game progressed. Yes we admire the length of his kicks, but they get us very little. We would be better using them less often, as a surprise tactic, rather than every time and allowing the opposition to work out how to deal with them at half time. The tactic may have to be used when we are chasing the game and 6'5" Futacs is on, but until then please lets give our forwards credit for better quality than just the route 1 football that the long hesh demands”

“Ian Rushand Robbie Fowler said that the training goals at Anfield were boarded over with wood. If the keeper didn't make a save the ball quickly rebounded into play and the striker had to follow up and score again. And again and again...The striker din't get any rest. he would aim to score 30 goals a minute. After 10 minutes the strikers were knackered but their awareness and sharpness in front of goal was superb. Time to order some wood from Wickes Mr Pearson.”

“In truth we could have won that game by 3 or 4 goals. If Lloyd dyer's shot had gone 6 inches either side of the defenders face we would have been out of sight rather than having to defend resolutely at the end. Very attack minded play and I love it. It may go against what we expect of NP's teams but boy has he bought some exciting players.”

“Even if it was a soft penalty (which I thought was a penalty!) we had other claims in the game that were stonewall. Justice was done and Holloway should get fined for his actions. If a player did that the club would reprimand him. So why is the manager allowed to be childish and disrespectful? FA needs to have a word!”

“Altogether a very professional display by all concerned on the day with the exception of silly boy Holloway. What an absolute dip stick he really came over as.”
