Three die after road accidents
Three people have died after two separate car accidents.
A man and a woman from Leicestershire died after a collision at about 10.20am yesterday in Main Street, Costock, Nottinghamshire.
They were travelling in a green Peugeot 306 when it was involved in a collision with a black Vauxhall Astra.
The man driving the Peugeot suffered multiple injuries and died at the scene, despite the efforts of air ambulance crew.
The woman, who was a passenger in the Peugeot, was taken to Queen's Medical Centre, in Nottingham, where she died from her injuries yesterday.
The crash victims have not been named by police.
A pensioner also died yesterday after a four-vehicle crash in Tinwell, Rutland.
The accident happened at about 5.50pm on Monday on the A606 Empingham Road, close to the junction with Steadfold Lane.
The driver of a Rover involved in the crash, who police said was believed to be a man in his 70s, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Peterborough General Hospital where he died in the early hours of yesterday.
Police have not yet identified him.
The four vehicles involved were a red Rover 114, a red Vauxhall Corsa CDX, a red Vauxhall Corsa Club and a red Vauxhall Corsa LS.
The drivers of the Corsa Club and the Corsa LS were both treated at hospital for minor injuries. The driver of the Corsa CDX was not injured.
