Melton Mowbray is the 3rd Oldest and it's the Oldest in the County,
Malmesbury is supposedly 2nd and Colchester claims to be the Oldest.
Uppingham and Stilton are also ancient, as is Market Harborough.
Bingham in Notts and Petersfield in Hampshire are ancient market.

Having been to a very good market on Queens Road ,yesterday,I am at a loss as to why Leicester Market does not do the similar every week.Some sort of old law persists ,I know.But it would bring shoppers into the City.Good for shoppers,car booters,business.What is wrong with that ?”
