“I think they're a double edged knife.
For people living locally within the restricted/permitted areas, they certainly seem to improve the quality of life (i.e children now safer to play in the local streets, removal of dangerous parking etc etc) however, with the city centre now so expensive to park in.... these areas allow people to drive close to Leicester, park their cars for free and ensure shops within the city centre remain alive and kicking... hmmmmmm interesting question though!!!”

“I think paid permit parking works, provided it is enforced. It only becomes a problem when you have visitors.
City Centres should have decent urban mass transit with peripheral parking in this day and age. So no one apart from residents and those with essential business or a designated space, and the disabled should need to take their car into the city centre.”
“Permit Parking zones.....Needed or a nuisance?
Living close to Bede Island park and also the Royal infirmary, I would say definitely needed. Before parking permits where introduced in our area, it was impossible to park or even offload shopping or children safely. There was little community spirit, pollution was higher due to the amount of cars crawling around our street all day. Now days the streets are calmer, safer and in warmer months children get together and play outside. It is definitely a better place to live.”
