“I think everyone already knows my views. I saw Jamie Vardy in two pre season matches and even at that point I knew and said that he would never get close to championship level football. this brought me endless abusive posts but now most people are saying this. If indeed we do not get promotion and he is staying here then a loan to div 1 or 2 is unavoidable. If we get promotion he is one among many who could never be considered for even a 15 minute appearance. At that level you need a full team of players at a level he will never attain to. If we stay in the championship and make a slow start next time don't rule out a change of manager as our owners need the Premiership quickly. In that case does anyone think that a new level headed manager would see anything in Vardy to warrant keeping him? No way. Running around and "work rate" are no compensation for skill answer goal scoring ability. He is by far the worst million pound signing in the history of football.”

“Jamie comes across like a model profession. Hardworking, learning his trade, etc
I am not going quite as harsh as Dob but I don't think he is wrong in stating that he won't make it to Premiership level. We must ask the question if Vardy was such a good find why did not some other team from the 1st or 2nd division take a punt on him?
He will improve, playing with better quality players in a higher standard of league will ensure that, but we need players who can make an immediate impact ala Woods. I wish him the best of luck and would be delighted if he proved me wrong and becomes the difference that gets us out of this league.”

“you are one kind guy Phil. Ill bet your family and friends love you a lot. I can be vicious. I'm more angry for Pearson keep playing him and showing him up more and more. It's a kick in the teeth to everyone including JV. It's like throwing someone in a river who can't swim and when they scramble out throwing them back.”

“At £1 million pounds he was always going to be a big risk. He came from non-league football (did not h)? Vardy has not had much game time to his defence; however he might be quite truly out of his league in the Championship. The best option is to loan him out so he can start playing regularly again and build his confidence as a player.”

“Well maybe he would be a more effective striker if he did not use all his strength working so hard.
Before calling him the worse Million pound striker ever may I ask
How much did Beckford cost ? Was he really more effective than Vardy ?
No work ethic and few goals for several Million - I think.”

“Dob, I am bit of an evil so and so really, lol.....
My lad plays in the Academy @ LCFC so I guess I am starting to get an idea of the amount of dedication, training and practice it takes to reach professional standards. Given Vardy's journey from non league, he has had so many disadvantages put simply he cannot have done the same level or hours of practice as most of the other lads. In my view, there is no such thing as natural talent, its all about practice, deep practice and practicing to high standard i.e. playing other Academy players in Premier league and Championship clubs. I agree though Mr Personality must share much of the responsibility he after all took a punt with Vardy, so it may take more time than we would all like for it to pay off.”

“JV is one of those signings that is not working out to be what was first thought, maybe a step to far or bad decision or poor judgment, who knows? But it is just one amongst several of NP's signings, of which most are proving to be of a good standard. I think he is worth holding onto and loaning out to a 3rd tier club to boost his confidence, his work rate is as we know excellent and he gets into some good goal scoring positions, but lacks a little in composure and confidence, similar to Waggy.”

“So it is down to poor judgement when signing JV, well funny that a host of clubs were in the running to sign him, Sheffield Wednesday, Blackpool etc. half a season in league football, nice that the support is good on here, I mean you all talk of confidence, might be worth a try by getting off the lads back for a start and giving him some support”

“Got to support the manager!.... LCFC sit in 3rd place with a game in hand that if won will put us in an automatic promotion place... No one can deny that Vardy works ever so hard but he has not put few chances away. Take Saturday for instance.. Vardy hit the target but the goalie saved it. Nugent has been woeful in the last couple of games and Waghorn looks more like a Tigers player he shoots so high. Keane had a mare at Peterborough and even Wes looked a bit off.. King, Gallagher, Wellens, Dyer all continue to get stick and even after a long campaign Futacs fails on his big night!
All this and the SQUAD is STILL in it's best position for years..
With so much negativity and criticism, no wonder the likes of Vardy seem to have little confidence. I would never play my A game if I heard what these guys have to endure from the terraces/papers & forums game after game / day after day!
Fans/supporters would contribute best by SUPPORTING the players through good AND bad games...
And to answer your question Chappy, if LCFC go up this season who's to deny Vardy as playing his part in Leicester city's first promotion to the Prem since Micky Adams all those seasons ago!
Whoever Nigel signs is ok with me as long as they show the commitment of Vardy! The class will be signed if we go up...”

“We know your views Dobo, just not your selective memory. When he scored a couple earlier in the season you were praising Vardy and aying he was going to get loads of goals. Now you are revising that to saying you never thought he was any good. Worst million pound signing in the history of football? Bit a leap to make isn't it? Turns out we paid a £1 million quid loan fee for Michael Johnson, hardly a wise investment was it? The history of the game is littered with million quid and more players who never made the grade. When he leaves to go to another club and starts banging in the goals for them I bet you will change your tune yet again and moan about we should never have sold him.”

“Ghost mate - just asked the questions - we all indeed know what dobbers opinion is, so it's not really good to get into a slanging match,
It's just one of those questions that crops up in various other topics so I figured why not get it out in the open in its own topic.
If we do go up automatically then no doubt Vardy will have played his part in some way. I am in the camp that says he isn't a bad player, but he needs to get his confidence and composure back in front of goal - maybe by dropping down a division for a few weeks - it will still be higher than he was at fleetwood, but more than likely in the right team, it will be a bit easier for him to bed in. Then when he does come back to use - he may be a bit less shot shy, or take his time and pick his shots better. I would love him to score the goal that takes us up, but if Wood and Nuge are available, I wouldn't bring him on at any point where 1 goal was so vital.
In the same way I'd love him to score the winning goal for England in the world cup, but if you asked me if Roy should drop Rooney to play Vardy - I'd say the same as anyone else in the country.. (even the ones who prefix it with WHO?)”

“Vardy does not have the technique required at a higher level. His touch is woeful. He doesn't know how to make runs to beat the off side trap. His posture demonstrates that he doesn't know how to shield the ball. Headers should be down and/or targeted toward the side of the goal that the cross is delivered from. Vardy cannot do this.He is not physically strong enough to cope with strong centre backs and he doesn't possess the dribbling and feigning skills of someone like Knockaert. Billy Kee is a better and younger footballer. I could have saved Np a million quid.”
“Is Vardy out of his depth?
I am aware that this question will make me unpopular simply for asking it..
but has Nigel Pearson's gamble on Jamie Vardy backfired, has NP's insistence on playing him instead of giving promising players like Jeff Schlupp cost us points, but worse - potentially cost us a promising young player who looks to be considering his options elsewhere?
Does Vardy's workrate compensate for his poor performance in front of goal or
Would a loan to a League 1 help to rebuild Vardy's confidence?
These are the questions talked about in every other topic, so what do you really think?”
