“Serious Advice.
A motion activated camera inside the building and a warning visible from outside the building.
An alarm box mounted on the front and rear (even a dummy one with a flashing LED)
A lockable gate, Locks on the Windows, Net Curtains. a lamp on a timer (the ones in Argos have a random function plus or minus 15 minutes).
Don't leave anything visible.
Door Chains on doors. Don't leave windows open or keys near letter boxes.
Security Lights. Mark your items with a security pen.
Regarding external cameras, if there are burglaries then the neighbours won't object, especially if they are under the eaves of the buildings as they could be shared and won't need as many.
You can put Tar or even grease on top of walls and drain pipes.
The Police will send someone round to tell you how to shore up your property
and lastly set up a neighbourhood watch. Registering will get you signs to put up, and you can all meet for a coffee and take your own neighbourhood back.
All the things the police usually suggest are little things that make burglars think twice. Safety in numbers.
That is the best advice I can offer you.”
